Scout Groups

We are very pleased you are visiting and hopefully finding out a little more about us and scouting in general. Our group is a large and very active band of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers all based in Lymm, Cheshire and with links to the local Warrington East District.

It’s our aim to ensure all the boys and girls in our scout troop get the most out of life by providing an interesting set of activities that are both fun and help them develop - as individuals and as a team. We do this in a friendly, safe environment aimed at providing the right level of support and guidance for each scout and each activity.

Beavers are the youngest members of our scouting family and easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts. Starting from the age of 6 years Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. We meet together once a week at our Beaver Scout Colony in the community centre.

Beavers (6 - 8 yrs)
Mondays between 6.00pm and 7.00pm.

Cubs are a lively lot, running around having fun whilst doing some really great stuff. They are always busy, some weeks indoors and some weeks out and about exploring, building things, camping, canoeing - the boys and girls get the most out of everything. Cubs join from 8 years old, mostly from our Beaver section. The Cub Pack meets once a week at the oughtrington community centre, the leaders needing the rest of the week to recover of course.

Cubs (8yrs - 10½ yrs)
Tuesday between 6:15pm and 7:45pm

At 1st Oughtrington Scouts we will try anything - especially if it means we can get wet and muddy while out and about camping, cycling and hiking – sometimes we manage all of this in one go! Other times we try something unusual.
Scouts are young, energetic and very noisy, always wide-eyed and ready to go whilst the Leaders and helpers are worn-out, limping to keep up and wear ear protection most of the time...

Scouts (10½ yrs – 14yrs)
Fridays between 7:15pm and 9:15pm

Explorer Scouts are the senior section of the scouting family, starting from 14 years through to 18. Our local unit is very active - giving these young people plenty of opportunity to be involved in adventure, learning, community and personal development in a fun and relaxed environment specially designed to support them.

Right from the time of Baden-Powell, there have been arrangements for young people who wanted to continue after their time in the Scout Section, and in 1967, Venture Scouts were formed from the existing Senior Scout and Rover Scout Sections.

Explorers (14 yrs – 18yrs)
Thursday between 8pm and 10pm
